General Information

We welcome new members! This is great group to meet new women. We meet from September-May. We rotate leadership, meaning volunteers select a podcast and lead the corresponding discussion. We ask members to listen to the podcast prior to the meeting, but encourage everyone to attend even if you haven’t listened to the podcast. Sign on to Zoom for a lively discussion promptly at 1:00 PM on the 3rd Monday of each month. Check out the list of past podcasts here.

Along with a discussion about the podcast, our meetings include a check-in from each member, thus allowing us to also take time to get to know and support each other. This group is open to all Women's Connection members. Nonmembers are welcome to join us a couple of times before becoming a member of Women's Connection. Meeting reminders with the upcoming podcast and Zoom links are sent several weeks ahead of our meeting to the Pod Squad group contact list and again a few days before our meeting.

If you are interested in participating or want to be on our contact list, 1) add yourself to the Pod Squad group or 2) Contact Jane Harens or Linda Grant using the Member Directory (choose Minneapolis/St Paul Chapter). If not a Member, please contact us with any questions you may have.

Event Information: November
On Monday, November 17th at 1:00 pm, Chris DiPietro will lead our discussion about “Giving Up”, the April 27, 2024 episode of podcast To the Best of Our Knowledge by Wisconsin Public Radio.

We get the message before we’re out of training pants - when the going gets tough, look on the bright side, make lemonade out of lemons and just do it. This podcast considers just the opposite - the wisdom of giving up and letting go. Host, Anne Strainchamps and producer, Angelo Bautista talk with Author John Oakes, psychoanalyst Adam Phillip, and author Maggie Jackson about the many aspects of giving up - food, habits, efforts, relationships, jobs, ideas, and other things. Because sometimes, the strongest and most courageous thing you can do is walk away.

We’ll talk about our own experiences. Has there been a time when you gave up because it was the best course of action? What is it ourselves or in the world around us that keeps us from giving up even though it might be the wisest thing to do?
