Set in Yorkshire during World War I, The Choral follows a small-town choral society whose male members have largely gone off to war. As the community recruits a group of younger singers and prepares for an ambitious performance, the film explores how music, community and human connection provide solace amid the fear and loss of wartime. Ralph Fiennes stars as the choir’s demanding new director.

It’s a warm, poignant British period drama—less about the war itself than about the people left behind and the role art plays in helping them endure it.
