This presentation by a physical therapist will provide the attendees with important information on what osteoporosis/osteopenia is, the types of physical activity that will help them to maintain healthy bones, and what types of postures to avoid in order to prevent spinal fractures. The presenter will then demonstrate a series of recommended exercises and movement strategies for individuals with osteoporosis/osteopenia.

Our Presenter: Joanne S. Katz, PT, DPT, PhD

Joanne is a physical therapist and former Chair of the Physical Therapy educational program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. She has completed multiple courses on the physical therapy management of osteoporosis/osteopenia according to the Sara Meeks Method. She also provides education on osteoporosis/osteopenia to physical therapy students each year.
