NYC (P) Interested in Becoming a Volunteer Mentor for Immigrant Professionals? (6:30 PM)
About this event
Monday, October 6, 2025, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Lost in today's blizzard of immigration news are the stories of foreign professionals, with work authorization, who have settled here and seek to rebuild their careers. To succeed in the US job market, they need fluent English and knowledge of the US business culture.
The English Speaking Union's NYC branch (
www.esuus.org) focuses on English proficiency and workforce readiness. Two programs that support this mission, staffed entirely by volunteers, are conversation skills and professional mentoring.
ESUUS is not seeking "English teachers" but knowledgeable, caring, patient people willing to share their business acumen and life experience with new immigrants. The English Speaking Union provides extensive volunteer training.
You'll hear from a current ESUUS volunteer about what it is like to be a mentor, the training process, and how to become a volunteer.
If you are interested in learning about this rewarding volunteer work, join us for this informal discussion. Monday, October 6th, at 6:30 pm at a member's Midtown East home. Space is Limited.
